OMG!!! Roland Print and Cut Machines Now Compatible with MAC (And PC)

With Roland's new Versaworks 7 software release, the 20" printers and cutters now work with both MAC and PC. This is such a game changer for sticker and t shirt shops. Read on for more details including how to install Roland Versaworks on MAC to run a Roland BN2-20A or BN2-20.

As a Mac girl myself, I've been begrudgingly using a PC to run my Roland ecosolvent printers for years. I'm not nearly as proficient on my PC so I just always feel slow and clunky.

I know other Mac users who are considering adding a Roland BN2 consider the added costs of a PC to run it, attempt to use a PC emulator like Parallels, or just decide against the 20" printer and cutter altogether for this reason. But I'm thrilled to say - no more!!

What's Now Available for Mac for Roland Users

When Roland rolled out the new Versaworks 7, it includes a full Mac OS software package along with the PC downloads.

VersaWorks 7, is the complete print and cut workflow software that handles all your Roland print jobs.

They've also made Roland DG Connect available, which is basically the Roland utility. And of course, all the necessary firmware updates and drivers are now available for both PC and Mac.

The one big piece that I still have questions about is FlexiDesigner VersaStudio Edition which is available free with Roland BN2 machines. That single-click cut line creation software requires a license key to be unlocked. However, it doesn't seem like the license key unlocks a Mac friendly version of Flexi so I have an email in to Roland about that.

There are workarounds to this, but if Flexi VersaWorks Edition isn't Mac friendly that will be a big disappointment since the alternative cut line software are paid options like Affinity Designer.

So...here's the thing about this update - it's a game changer for Mac-based businesses. For one thing MAC users can now create a completely streamlined workflow. There's no longer a need to switch computers or transfer files during the design and production process.

You'll be able to work more efficiently taking advantage of time-saving Mac keyboard shortcuts and UI that you're used to!

If you have limited space in your home office or studio, now there's no need for a second computer. This will also save you money from having to purchase a PC If you're just now jumping into Roland.
