If you're wondering how much to sell vinyl stickers for, you're not alone! One of the biggest challenges for sticker businesses is knowing exactly what to charge.
Too often, small sticker businesses and Etsy sticker shops end up underpricing their stickers, not accounting for all their costs, and actually losing money on orders! Read on to learn more about my free pricing calculator and how to use it!
Why You Need a Sticker Cost Calculator
Many small businesses face common pricing pitfalls:
- Not knowing the actual cost of materials and ink
- Forgetting to factor in their valuable time
- Simply pricing stickers based on their competition's pricing
- Being afraid to mark up appropriately for profit
- Getting stuck when calculating bulk order discounts
If you've ever asked yourself "How much should I sell stickers for?" or "How much can you sell stickers for on Etsy?", my free vinyl sticker calculator is exactly what you need.
How to Access the Free Sticker Pricing Calculator
You'll find the free calculator on SilhouetteU.com under the "Free Cost Calculators" menu. (You'll see I also have a sublimation pricing calculator there as well). This free version is available to anyone wondering how much to sell custom stickers for.
All you need to do is enter your email address, enter a few details about the sticker job you're pricing and click Calculate to get your true vinyl sticker costs and suggested pricing.
Using the Basic Calculator
Ok so how do you use it?
First, enter the dimensions of your sticker. Let's say we're doing 2-inch round stickers and making 100 of them. You'd enter both the height and width as "2" along with the quantity as 100.
From the Material dropdown select your material type - Glossy, Matte, or Holographic. Remember that holographic material costs more, which affects how much your stickers sell for. The pricing on these materials is based on the true cost of Roland printable ecosolvent vinyl. The ink pricing is also based on Roland ink.
Set your color coverage (how much ink covers say a square inch of vinyl).
Click "Calculate Cost." The calculator immediately shows you both the cost per sticker and a suggested retail price with a built-in markup of 30%.
Change to holographic material, and you'll notice the price jumps significantly (from about 30 cents to 53 cents). This is because the material width and price per square inch is different. And this...is exactly why you need a calculator - the difference between making and losing money can be just one material change!
Advanced Calculator for Serious Sticker Sellers
For those wondering "how much do stickers sell for" when factoring in everything from labor to different cut types, I also created an advanced vinyl sticker calculator available with a Silhouette U membership.
The advanced calculator version lets you:
- Add custom materials with specific pricing
- Calculate costs for different cut types (kiss cut, die cut, easy peel)
- Adjust for the use of white ink which costs more than CMYK
- Factor in your labor costs and setup fees
- Set bulk pricing discounts
You'll see exactly how different choices affect your pricing - helping you confidently pricing your stickers based on your actual costs.
