Desktop DTF and DTG Printer for Home Business! Unboxing the Epson F1070

If you've been looking for an affordable desktop printer that can do both DTF (Direct-to-Film) and DTG (Direct-to-Garment) printing, this might be exactly what your home business needs.

Epson F1070, DTF printer, DTG printer, epson printer

The dual purpose F1070 is Epson's first desktop size DTF/DTG printer specifically for home businesses. It's not only easy to use but it's easy to maintain and has a price point under $6500.

Read on for my full unboxing of the Epson F1070..and check out my exclusive interactive tool to quickly decide if the F1070 is right for you!

Unboxing & Delivery Tips

The Epson F1070 comes in a large crate on a pallet.  When checking out be sure to opt for liftgate service since it's shipped freight.  The crate is wide and just barely misses fitting through a standard doorway.

However, once you take the top off the box, the 150 pound printer is fully accessible without having to lift it up and out of the large box.

Epson F1070 Dimensions

This F1070 footprint is 28" by 35" so you'll need a table that's at least 28" deep.  I am using this table from Amazon,  which I like because not only is it deep enough but it has a metal frame so it's sturdy.

What's Included in the Epson F1070 Box?

The DTF/DTG combo printer comes with a full set of ink pouches - CMYK plus two white inks (250ml each) for DTG printing on dark garments and DTF transfers. There's a total of 1500ml of ink and the price per ml comes out to $2.08. That's on the expensive side to be honest..and don't be shocked if you get a low ink warning for white after you complete the initial setup.

A complete maintenance kit is also included with cleaning solution, multiple sizes of cleaning swabs, gloves, a plastic cup for cleaning procedures, and detailed maintenance instructions.

The F1070 comes with a 10x12" platen that's smaller than what you'll find on the larger F2270 model, but it's perfectly sized for most custom t-shirt printing needs. This is what your shirt or film will sit on during printing.

In the box you'll also find a quick start guide, software installation instructions, maintenance calendar with daily/weekly/monthly procedures, and registration information.

Garment Creator 2 Software

The software to run the Epson F1070, Garment Creator 2, is also included free. It works on both Mac and PC - a rarity in the DTF and DTG world where almost all printers are PC compatible only.

Important: What's NOT Included

If you're planning to use this for DTF printing, you will need to purchase a few additional supplies (DTF film, powder, curing oven, filter) or get a F1070 bundle, like this one, that includes DTF supplies.

For DTG printing, you'll need pre-treated shirts or pre-treatment solution and a heat press for curing. Again there are F1070 bundles that include all of that as well.
