How to Use an Iron for DTF Transfers

Not needing a heat press and instead being able to use an iron to apply DTF transfers is a bigger deal than you might realize.

The ability to use an iron which most anyone would have means not only can YOU apply transfers with an iron, but your customers can too...and that means: you can sell DTF transfers to your customers who don't have a heat press.

So how do you use an iron for DTF transfers?

A heat press presses the entire transfer in one single press. But in order to get enough heat and pressure with an iron, you need to ensure that you apply an iron-size press to the entire transfer.

That means if the transfer is small and completely fits under the iron you're good to go. But if you have a larger transfer you need to apply the iron to each section.

When pressing DTF transfers with an iron you do not want to move the iron around..you just want to keep it stationary as you press each section for about 15 seconds.

If, when you go to remove the film, part the transfer lifts too, lay the film back down and re-press with the iron.
