Getting the perfect puff when use Siser Metallic Puff HTV comes down to the time, temperature and pressure.
Read on for the perfect combination to get the best puff when using puff heat transfer vinyl.
Start by cutting the Siser Puff HTV. I found the best Silhouette cut settings were a little different than what Siser recommends. You can find my recommended puff HTV cut settings here.
Using bigger and bolder designs seems to work better and give more of a puff effect. I'm using this New Years designs from So Fontsy's Big Celebrations Bundle.
I'm cutting it in two different metallic puff HTV colors..but they both have to be applied at the same time. You can find my tips on pressing multiple colors of Siser Puff HTV here.
Once the heat transfer vinyl is cut and weeded make sure your heat press is warmed up to 280 degrees.
Put your shirt on there and close your heat press. You want to adjust the pressure to between medium and firm.
Do a quick pre press of the shirt to warm it up for 8-10 seconds.
The metallic puff from Siser is a two step application both with the same time and temperature: 280 degrees and I recommend 8 seconds per press.
Place the cut design on the shirt and then cover with a piece of butcher paper or teflon. Press for 8 seconds.
When the time is up, let the puff HTV cool slightly but peel while it's still warm.
At this point there's no puffing effect so don't worry.
Cover again with the same cover sheet and press again for 8 seconds. This is the slide out heat press I'm using.
This time when the time is up the metallic puff will have puffed up giving a 3D effect!
I love how it came out but I have to be honest..I wouldn't mind a little more puff! What do you think?
