Software Setup Guide for ProColored TX800 UV DTF Printer

Installing the software package for the ProColored TX800 UV printer is not for the faint of heart.

software setup,procolored,UV combo printer,prorip,UV printer,Software,UV DTF printer,

I would say this is probably the most challenging printer I have ever set up due to the multiple softwares and many, many settings.

The good news is I can now share the steps in an easy to follow list and in order to help you make this process as easy as possible. I also have videos of every step to help you along the way.  I suggest you watch this Youtube playlist in order.

Throughout this guide I have also embedded videos. They appear to all be the same, but they will each start a different point that has corresponding information for the section where the video is embedded.

Before you begin the software set up make sure you have completed the UV printer setup. You'll need:

Downloading the ProColored UV Printer Software and Rip Package

The first thing you want to do is download the software package for the ProColored TX800.  Go here to download the software package onto your computer.

It will download as a Zip folder called: UV A3 Pro TX800.

Right Click > Extract All.

Browse and navigate to the "ProColored Software Package" folder you created on your C Drive.

Click Extract.

There will be a series of folders and files inside. We're going to focus on the folder called Software & Drivers.

Double click that folder to open it. Inside are three more folders.  We're going to focus on two of them during this setup.

Installing the PrintEXP Software

The PrintEXP software is what controls the printer.  In your printing workflow you'll use this software second, but we're going to install it first.

I am going to list the steps in order, but I also have a video so you can watch each step as well.

Find the PrintEXP folder and make sure it's for version 7.6.5.77 or higher.
  • Right click the folder > Extract
  • Change the location by browsing to the same folder C://ProColored Software Package
  • Open that folder
  • Scroll down to find the PrintEXP application. It may or may not have a thumbnail logo
  • Right click PrintEXP on the file name > click More Option > Send To > Desktop (this creates a desktop shortcut)
  • The video below starts at the section relevant to this step of the setup process

Power on the TX800 UV printer and plug the ethernet cable into your computer.
  • Open the finder and Search for Control Panel
  • Under Network and Internet > Click View Network Status and Task
  • From the next window click Ethernet (do not click the Wifi option).
  •     If you do not have an Ethernet connection it means that your printer is not powered on and/or not connected to your computer
  • Click the Properties button
  • In the window that pops up double click the fourth option for "Internet (TCP / IPV4)"
  • In the next window, select the second option for "Use the Following IP Address" and input these exact numbers in the following fields
    • IP: 192 168 127 111
    • Subnet Mask: 255 255 255 0
    • Default Gateway: 192 168 127 1
    • In the next section select Use the Following DNS Server
    • Preferred DNS Server: 192 168 127 111
Click Ok and Close to close out of all of those windows.
  • The video below starts at the section relevant to this step of the setup process

If you launch the Print EXP software now and get an error or if it's in a foreign language, return to the ProColored Software Package folder on your C Drive and follow these steps:
  • This time double click the folder called "Test Chart."
  • Double click Microsoft Common Runtime Libraries
  • This software patch does something with PrintEXP to make PrintEXP in English, but the most ironic part is the entire install for the Microsoft Common Runtime Libraries is in a foreign language. ProColored is apparently working to fix this issue. While the install is pretty straight forward I have no idea what any of it's saying so I would suggest you just watch this video and follow where my mouse is going to install.
  • The video below starts at the section relevant to this step of the setup process

The Print EXP software is now setup. You won't have to do this step again unless you need to re-install the software.

Once that installation completes, you can go back to the PrintExp desktop shortcut to launch the program.
Ensure that the bottom left icon is green indicating the Ethernet connection and network has been established and make sure the bottom right indicates the Device is Ready

Installing the ProRip Software for ProColored TX800

The ProRip software is the second software you'll need. It's what is going to create the white and varnish layers on your images.  We're going to install this software next.

Return to the Software Package on your C Drive. Click into the Software & Driver folder again.
  • Locate the folder called: UV A3 TXPro RIP Software
  • Right click > Extract
  • Browse for your saved location...again your same folder on the C Drive.
  • Once extracted, open the folder and locate the ProRip software Application
  • Double click to begin the installation
  • Follow through the prompts clicking 'Next" and Ok as necessary
The software that you installed will be a demo version. You'll need to plug in the USB thumb drive provided anytime you want to use the ProRip software.

Setting Up ProRip Settings Before Your First UV Print

The first tine you use ProRip you'll have a bunch of settings to adjust. With the exception of the last set of steps, these setting adjustments are ONLY necessary before your first print when you're first getting ProRip setup.

I have a step by step video to setup the ProRip Settings you can view here and at the bottom of this section as well.

Start by inserting the USB key that gives you access to the full ProRip version
Launch ProRip from your desktop shortcut
  • Click the icon on the top menu that looks like a scaling box
  • Change the canvas size to: 11x14

  • At the top right, click the left pointing double arrows at the top
  • Click the printer icon along the top menu
  • Select each printer in the list and click “Delete Printer”
  • When the list is empty, click "Import Printer"
  • Navigate the the C Drive Folder you made called Procolored Software Package click the UV A3 Pro MT_driver
  • Return to ProRip and now under Installed  Printers it should say: UV-A3.PRO-TX800 (Default)
  • Exit out of this screen

  • Click the right pointing arrows at the top right
  • Click the icon that looks like a cloud at the top menu bar to import a file
  • Navigate to a PNG file to import it into the art board

  • Click the arrows in the top corner again so they are pointing to the right
  • Click the gear icon
  • This opens an Advanced Options window
  • Under Print Options > Print Mode. Select “Manual print after RIP”
  • Browse to a folder or create a new one on your computer where you want all RIPed images to be stored automatically
  • Click OK to Close

  • Click the arrows again at the top
  • Along the right side you will see CMYK, W1, W2
  • Click W1 and change to 'Invaginate'
  • Enter "0.20" mm in all fields
  • Click W2 and change to "Extend"
  • Enter "0.20" mm in all fields
  • Click save to save the template settings and name it. It will now show up under your templates

  • Still in the same view, Click RGB on the right menu bar area
  • Click the RIP tool on the top to open a print preview
  • Click Driver Settings > Select "720 x 1440 DPI"
  • Click Ok
  • In the same settings panel, under Print Area > Uncheck:  Keep Top Margin and Keep Left Margin
  • Uncheck Mirror (You don't need to print your images mirrored)
  • Check Rotate 180
  • Click Ok
Your image will start ripping and you'll see a status bar. When it's finished it will be saved in the folder you created.

At this point you will return to PrintEXP and import the image there to print it.

Once the software is set up you can install the ink by following ProColored's video before completing your first print.

EDITORS NOTE: This setup guide should not be considered a review or endorsement of this UV printer, but strictly an instructional guide on how to setup the software. While the software and setup is challenging, at this point I have not formed an opinion on this printer yet enough to provide a review.
