If you're looking for a beginner heat press, there's a new 3-in-1 heat press option.
xTool - the company that makes laser engravers and cutters - has just released the xTool Smart Heat press. I recently got my hands on one and it really does have a lot of benefits including portablity. Read on to see if it's right for you!
The xTool 3-in-1 heat press is a 10x12" heat press that can be used as a handheld press (like the Cricut Easy Press) or attached to an included swing away heat press stand.
The xTool press has a full range of motion allowing you to swing the top heat platen completely out of the way. The legs that extend behind the press make sure it doesn't get top heavy and tip back when the top platen is at 180 degrees.
A wireless control panel is also included and is easily paired with the heating unit. It's used to control the time and temperature.
Speaking of temperature, this press heats up very fast.
It took less than three minutes for the press to reach 400 degrees.
The ability to heat up to this high temperature, along with the firm pressure made possible by the heat press stand, means the press can be used for sublimation and is not limited to HTV or transfers.
For larger transfers or heat transfer vinyl image that don't fit on the 10x12" lower platen, you can easily slide the top platen off and use the heat press by hand allowing you to easily slide across larger transfers.
The smaller handheld press is about 4"x2.5" which is ideal for items like hats, shoes, or stuffed animals.
Overall I think the 3-in-1 Smart xTool Heat Press is a good quality, easy to use and convenient heat press option, especially for beginners, if you're looking for versatility and portability.
