If Silhouette Studio is running slow and you've already confirmed your computer meets the minimum requirements to run the software, it could be how you're designing or editing that's contributing to the slow processing.
There are various ways to try to speed up the Silhouette software, including making sure you're not overloading the software. Read on to learn how to increase the processing speed.
If you're experiencing Silhouette Studio running slow there are a handful of reasons why - all of them have to do with the amount of data that the software is being asked to process. Fills, patterns, cut lines and file size all contribute to high amounts of data the software has to process.
To help improve the speed of Silhouette Studio, start by closing any extra work area tabs you have open.
More importantly delete any excessive design elements you don't need. Having an extra "stuff" in the work area is one of the main culprits of slow processing.
I often get emails about Silhouette Studio running slow and when I ask for a photo of the work area I'll get a screengrab like this.
All that extra stuff in the work area, especially those with fills and patterns, creates extra data for the software to have to work through and that can dramatically reduce performance.
If you have traced elements sitting in the work area, that you don't need, this can be even more of a problem as tracing often creates cut lines with extra and excessive edit points. Delete anything you don't actually need.
If you've already ruled out that you don't have an excessive amount of work areas open and you've deleted extra design elements that you don't need and you're still experiencing Silhouette Studio being slow and sluggish or crashing, there is another easy step you can take to try to increase performance of the software.
Check out this tutorial on how and why excessive cut lines may be to blame, and how to fix the issue.
