You can be getting more out of your PNG and SVG files by using them as images for full color DTF transfers. And I don't just mean if you have a DTF printer of your own.
Using SVG files or and PNG images to upload to a DTF uploader or gang sheet builder will allow you avoid layering HTV and get around sublimation limitations. Read on for how to use PNG and SVG files for iron on transfers.
If your image is still in Silhouette Studio, you'll need Business Edition to export it as a PNG file - which is the preferred file type. To export it, select the image and go to File > Save Selection As > Save to Hard drive.
Change the file type to PNG and check the box for a transparent background.
You'll also want to increase the DPI to 300 if possible.
The file is now ready to be uploaded into a DTF transfer image uploader.
If your file is not in Silhouette Studio, but you already downloaded it from somewhere like So Fontsy, you don't even need to bring it into Silhouette Studio just go straight to the DTF uploader.
Visit the gang sheet uploader (I'm using So Fontsy's) and select the size sheet you want. In this example I'm making transfers for a pocket size or can cooler size design and I need multiple transfers. An 8x11" gang sheet works well.
When using SVG files for iron on transfers, click the upload button and browse to find your SVG file.
Once the image is added to the work area, you can size it by pulling the bottom right corner in or out.
Position the transfer and use the duplicate button to make multiple copies to fill up your gang sheet.
So Fontsy will print and ship them to you.
Once they arrive just use a heat press or iron for about 15 seconds to apply the DTF transfers to any color or type of fabric or garment.
