As someone who has an 8 in 1 heat press, a tumbler press and several different style mug presses...I definitely have my favorites! Read on and I'll spill it on what I consider the best sublimation heat press for mugs and tumblers.
Sublimation is a process where heat and pressure are required to transfer a printed transfer onto a substrate (in this case, a mug or tumbler). The sublimation ink turns into a gas when heated and bonds with the substrate, creating a permanent and high-quality image. The tumbler or mug press is what supplies the heat and pressure.
So what's the best heat press for a mugs or tumblers?
If you are working with 20 oz or 30 oz skinny sublimation tumblers, a tumbler press is definitely the best option.
While you can use a mug press to sublimate tumblers, it will double the amount of time it takes because a mug attachment won't fit the full length of the tumbler.
My preferred sublimation heat press for tumblers though, is my Swing Design 7-in-1 tumbler press. It includes a long skinny attachment that will allow you to press a tumbler as quickly as possible. Each half of the tumbler is pressed for about 50 seconds then turned 180 degrees and pressed again.
It also has two pressure knobs that allow you to get even pressure along the full length of the sublimation tumbler which is really important for getting the best and most vibrant results.
The 7 in 1 tumbler and mug press also includes attachments for sublimating various size mugs and even shot glasses.
I love the ability to just swap out the attachment quickly and easily.
For all these reasons, plus the fact it comes in four pretty colors, is high quality and user friendly makes the Swing Design 7 in 1 Tumbler and Mug heat press my preferred sublimation heat press for tumblers and mugs!
