Give your Silhouette paper projects a 3D effect by making candy dome holders!
These are pretty easy to make and they can be filled with all kinds of treats. Need some inspiration? I've got 11 candy holder ideas and a few tips on how to make candy dome holders with just a few supplies and your Silhouette CAMEO.
Start in Silhouette Studio by opening the candy holder SVG design.
The baseball design and 10 other candy holder ideas are from So Fontsy Big Gift Card bundle but they can also be purchased individually.
The baseball candy dome is an easy one to start with since it's only two colors of material. The white baseball layer was cut on paper and the red laces were cut on HTV.
We used HTV because it's so fast and easy to apply to paper - sometimes even easier than using glue to apply layers of paper.
The baseball candy dome holder comes with two options for the backing piece.
If you go to the Send panel you can see more easily where the cut lines are.
I'd caution you about resizing the design because it will change the size of the hole where the dome goes so only do that if you need to to fit a specific size candy home.
Cut both the front and the backing pieces. My favorite cardstock to use with Silhouette CAMEO is American Crafts cardstock.
After cutting the paper, cut the HTV or other layers of paper.
For this one we used a Cricut Easypress Mini to put the HTV on paper.
Slip the dome through the hole on the front of the candy holder and keep in place with some glue if it's not snug enough to stay. You can find the candy domes in different sizes and shapes on Amazon.
Fill with treats like gum, candy or stickers.
Here's a quick video of how to assemble from So Fontsy team member Nikita!
This same process can be done when you make candy dome holders of any design - not just the baseballs. These are so fun for all different holidays and special events. You can find at least 11 different candy holder ideas in the Big Gift Card Holder SVG bundle.
