Registration marks make layering vinyl easy but may seem like it can waste a lot of vinyl. Level up your registration mark game by adding multiple registration marks to help save vinyl when layering decals!
For multi-color, multi-layer vinyl decal designs like this one pictured below, start by adding your first set of registration marks for vinyl layering close to the top of the design.
The vinyl decal design we’re using for this project is one from the Good Vibes Retro Font and Design Bundle available at So Fontsy.
Next, an additional pair of registration marks near the middle and/or bottom of the design.
Then, begin cutting each of the vinyl layers with a set of the registration marks that are closest to them in the design. For the topmost layer of the design, cut all sets of registration marks.
Take a look at how using the top set of registration marks with this layer requires a larger piece of vinyl, compared to using the bottom registration marks that would require using much less vinyl for layering.
After cutting and weeding the vinyl, next begin layering the vinyl using those registration marks to assemble the decal.
Who doesn’t love a colorful vinyl decal that also saves on vinyl?
