Shadow fonts take text to the next level by adding a background, border or shadow behind the original text.
This really makes the text stand out! In this tutorial, we'll show you just how easy it is to use shadow fonts so you can get started working them in Silhouette Studio.
Shadow fonts usually come as two separate fonts and you'll need to install both on your computer. One font is the "front" text, and the other is the "shadow."
Remember any font downloaded and installed on your computer will show in Silhouette Studio after you re-start the software.
After installing the fonts, open up Silhouette Studio and type out the desired text using the "front" font.
The font we're using is called Moonbabe and you can grab it in the Giant Script Font Bundle over at So Fontsy.
After the text is typed out and sized how you want it, duplicate the text by right-clicking on it, then selecting Duplicate.
Move the duplicate down under the original.
Click on the original text (just click once not double click) and then click the shadow font in the text panel (called Moonbabe Shadow).
Change the fill color of the shadow text. Then, select both and click the Center button in the top menu.
And here's your the font with its shadow layer! If you need to resize the text, just make sure to resize both the layers so they stay in proportion to one another.
Then, you can cut out the separate layers in different colors of vinyl and layer together to create a really cool looking personalized sign or wood tray.
You can grab the Script Font Bundle from So Fontsy for 91% off for a limited time and get the Moonbabe fonts and 55 other commercial use script fonts.
