If you're wondering how to size designs to fit on your project the concept is the same whether it's a shirt or a tea towel or a wood sign.
You need the design to appropriately fit the space.
In this example we'll work with a set of tea towels to give you some ideas for how to create a quick mockup in Silhouette Studio to help you size your design.
The first thing you want to do is fold the blank tea towel the way you want it to be folded when it hangs.
Take a measuring tape or ruler and measure the width and length of the front side.
Open Silhouette Studio and draw a rectangle the same dimensions to represent the front of the towel.
Now you'll want to merge in your design by going to File > Merge. By using Merge and not "Open" the designs will open in the same work area as the rectangle you drew.
I am using a few different designs from So Fontsy's Christmas in July SVG and Font Bundle.
Once the designs are in Silhouette Studio, select one of the designs by clicking it then move it over the rectangle you drew.
To resize it to fit on the towel simply pull one of the corners in and out.
Use the rectangle you drew as a reference to help you determine the right size for your design.
You'll need to reverse the image by right clicking > Flip Horizontally.
You can now delete the rectangle you drew to represent the towel and move the SVG design to where you want it positioned on the cutting mat. And you're ready to cut!
