After cutting out all the cardstock layers of a 3d paper layered shadow box, you are going to definitely want all those layers to stand out.
In this post, we'll talk about the best adhesive to use to assemble the paper layers, so your 3D shadow box really pops!
The best adhesive to use for a 3d paper layered shadow box is dimensional foam adhesive.
This is exactly what is says - a piece of foam with adhesive on both sides. It's like a piece of double-sided tape, but much thicker.
The foam adhesive creates space between the layers of the shadow box, which is really what makes the project pop!

How to Use Adhesive Foam with Paper Projects
First, stick the dimensional foam adhesive to the back of the cardstock layer. Here we used dimensional foam squares. This type of product works great for small areas, but to cover a larger area you'll need to use a lot of them so the layers don't sag.
Alternatively, you may want to use foam adhesive strips which are especially handy for large areas! These are long, thin pre-cut strips of foam dimensional adhesive.
The strips work really well for getting into thin spaces.
The strips are also flexible so they can bend around curves.
You can also find rolls of dimensional foam adhesive which work great for covering large areas.
Just stick down the foam adhesive from the roll and trim off the desired length.
Ideally, you'll find a use for all three types of these foam adhesives. But if you could only choose one, I'd use the foam adhesive roll because not only does is cover large areas well, you can also trim off very small pieces to use as well.
Once sticking down the foam adhesive (whichever you choose), remove its paper backing to expose the other adhesive side.
Then, stick down the next cardstock layer.
Apply the foam dimensional adhesive between all the cardstock layers of the shadow box and look how it really makes the design stand out!
