Benefits of 16x20" Heat Press: A Dream for Wide Format Printers and Cutters

I've had a lot of heat presses in my craft room over the years, but I just got my first 16x20" auto-open heat press.

With all of the wide format printers and cutters I have now, this larger heat press has been an awesome upgrade to pair with the larger prints and cuts allowing me to press larger designs in a single press.

Let me introduce you to my TransPro Plus 1620 Semi Auto Heat Press from my friends at ProWorld.  This thing has all the bells and whistles including auto open, a pull out bottom platen and the option for interchangeable platens in various sizes.

I find the biggest benefit of the 16x20" heat press, though, to be the ability to pair it more closely in size with the 20-24" printers I have including the ecosolvent and sublimation printers and my 15-24" cutters including the 24" Silhouette CAMEO Pro.

The wider printer and cutters obviously allow for larger designs which means you can sublimate onto larger blanks like 16x20" aluminum panels or 15x15" tote bags.

Even heat transfer vinyl designs that are more than about 14" in either direction - for an extra large chest, sleeve or pant leg designs - it can become a challenge to press on a smaller heat press.

But with the TransPro Plus 1620 the larger 16x20" platens make it easier to press in a single press and/or press to the complete edge which would be difficult if not impossible on a small size platen.

I've been sublimating socks for a few years. It's possible on a 15x15" heat press, but only when you press the sock corner to corner which means you can only press one sock at a time.

On the 16x20" TransPro Plus 1620 heat press I can press three socks at a time speeding up my production time greatly.

This is a game changer for small businesses.

Sublimating on a 15x15" bag on the 16x20 heat press allows me to sublimate or heat press right to the very edge.

On a small press, where the pressure and heat tend to be reduced around the edge of the platen a full edge-to-edge press isn't possible.

Overall I really like the Transpro Plus 1620 from ProWorld for its ease of us with the auto-open, the safety features including the pull out bottom platen and auto open and especially the large heating and pressing areas. It just makes a such a big differences when transitioning from hobby crafter to small at-home business in the way of increased productivity.
