The best vinyl machine for balloons is the one you already have!
You can cut vinyl with your Silhouette CAMEO or Portrait and apply vinyl to both foil and mylar balloons for a stunning and personalized balloon bouquet! Today we're sharing some tricks to make the project go a little more smoothly.
To get vinyl to stick to balloons you want to make sure to use a baby wipe or cloth to wipe down the balloon before applying vinyl. Vinyl always sticks better to a clean surface!
To keep the balloon from rolling around on you, while applying vinyl, tape it down to your work surface with painter's tape. When adding vinyl to foil balloons that are extra-large balloons you made new more than one strip of tape.
Use a low-tack material to transfer the vinyl onto the balloon - like a low or medium tack transfer tape or painter's tape (yes, you can use painter's tape as transfer tape!).
It is also very helpful to "fuzz" the transfer tape (or painter's tape) before using it. All you need to do is place the transfer tape on a towel, then peel it back up. This slightly reduces its stickiness, but that will actually help with easier removal from the vinyl during application.
Finally, check out this blog post for 5 tricks for putting vinyl on round surfaces - which would of course include mylar balloons.
One particularly helpful trick is clipping into the transfer tape between the vinyl. This gives you much more flexibility while applying it to the balloon.
You can create your own personalized balloons just like these! I used several fonts from So Fontsy's Font Duo Bundle 2.0 to create the vinyl balloon decals! Each of the font duos in this bundle are designed to give your projects extra oomph! Save 89% on 36 amazing fonts!
