Not sure which tools will work in your Silhouette CAMEO 3? No worries I've got you covered.
With the new Silhouette CAMEO 4 having different tools than the CAMEO 3, it can be confusing to know which tools work in which machine. This Silhouette tutorial will explain which Silhouette tools are compatible with the Silhouette CAMEO 3...and in which carriage.
The Silhouette CAMEO 3 has two tool carriages both of which can take the exact same tools - with one exception.
The tools that can be used in the left tool carriage of the Silhouette CAMEO 3 (or in the Portrait 2) are the:
All of the same tools can also be used in the right tool carriage of the CAMEO 3 - with ONE exception: the Autoblade.
See how the right carriage does not have the grooves along the back of the rounded tool carriage, like the left side carriage? Those grooves are matched on the Autoblade and without the grooves the Autoblade does not fit in the carriage.
Those grooves, the rounded back of the carriage, and the smaller diameter all make it impossible to use the "B" Autoblade (aka the CAMEO 4 Autoblade) in the CAMEO 3. Basically, the Autoblades and Pen Holders for the Silhouette CAMEO 3 vs CAMEO 4 are different and not interchangeable.
Third Party Tools in Silhouette CAMEO 3
There are also multiple third party tools that can be used in either CAMEO 3 tool carriage including the CB09 Blade, alternative pen holders, and Foil Quill tips.
