Confused by the different types of sublimation inks and not sure which to get for your sublimation printer?
Let's look at a couple of the most popular types of inks that are offered with the Sawgrass Sublimation printers.
Siser Inks vs HD Inks
There are two main types of ink for the solder model Sawgrass SG400 and SG800 and the newer model Sawgrass SG500 and Sawgrass SG1000 printers: Sublijet HD inks and EasySubli Siser inks. Both are sublimation inks that can be used in the Sawgrass sublimation printers. Both were offered as part of Sawgrass sublimation printer bundles.Siser EasySubli Ink by Sawgrass
The Siser EasySubli Ink by Sawgrass was
released in 2019 alongside Siser EasySubli printable HTV. While the
Siser Inks are ideal for printable EasySubli Heat Transfer Vinyl (basically allowing sublimation
quality printable heat transfers on cotton and darks), they can also be used for traditional
sublimation.
The Siser inks have a slightly different formulation that gives them a leg up specifically when printing on EasySubli printable heat transfer material.

But the great thing is they can also be used for hard goods like mugs and apparel including shirts, socks, and hats.
Sawgrass SubliJet HD ink
The Sawgrass SubliJet HD inks (or just "HD" inks for short) are the traditional sublimation ink formulation with bright, vibrant, lasting results.
They can also be used on both traditional sublimation items and EasySubli printable heat transfer.

Having owned two Sawgrass sublimation printers - one with HD inks and one with EasySubli Inks - I can say I prefer the HD ink overall for providing a better result on sublimation papers and the vast majority of sublimation blanks, however the difference in print quality is minimal and would be almost unnoticeable if not side by side.
The Siser EasySubli inks give a better result on EasySubli printable material (which they should since they are formulated specifically for this material) when you want sublimation quality prints on dark surfaces or cotton.
You just need to decide how you’re mostly going to use your sublimation printer and that will determine the type of ink that you should buy with your printer because you cannot switch back-and-forth easily.
Once you've decided on the type of sublimation ink you want to use, you can narrow down and pick the best Sublimation Printer Bundle!
