Custom Face Masks with HTV the Quick and Easy Way!

Custom face masks are in high demand right now and with a Silhouette CAMEO or Portrait you can easily make them with both HTV or sublimation.

The biggest challenge of adding a sublimation transfer or heat transfer vinyl on face masks is the shape of the mask itself.  I have few tricks that should help you deal with the shape and any seams to get a better press.

If you're putting HTV on just the cheek side of a mask, it's easiest to fold the mask in half and apply the HTV using either a heat press with a pressing pillow or a Cricut EasyPress Mini.

If you're customizing face mask with a large across-the-front heat transfer design or sublimation you'll get best results if the mask is stretched a bit while pressing. This will help flatten any seams and gathered areas giving you better, more even pressure.

I found a hat press or an 8-in-1 heat press with hat press is actually perfect for pressing face masks.  I am using the TransPro Auto Open hat press from ProWorld.

The curve of the hat press perfectly fills the shape of the mask and you can link the ear straps through the cap holder so stretch it slightly further and keep it in place.  This is specifically helpful with masks that have a center seam like this blank face masks I got in a pack from Amazon.

Now that you know a few tricks for easily customizing face masks fast an easy...grab a couple of face mask designs and start customizing.   My favorites are the funny face mask designs, but you can find designs for all moods, styles, themes, even holidays and sports on our sister site So Fontsy

  2. How do normal people who do not have a hat press make the mask?

  3. My Aunt puts her hats around an aluminum kitchen pot wrapped in a towel. I was stunned how well it worked and have used them every since. It worked much better than my cheap hat press. She said you have to try a few sizes to get the right fit. But you generally have more than one size pot.
