This error occurs when you press Send and instructs the Silhouette user to pick an action and material for the tool and tool carriage they're not even using. It can cause complete frustration and prevent you from cutting.
Thankfully there's an easy fix - but it's not intuitive.
The Incompatible Material Setting Send Panel error occurs when there is anything in the work area that's outside of the cutting area.
So in this example, the text that's off to the side is what's prompting it the error message.
As soon as anything off the cutting mat is deleted from the work space, you can click Send to begin cutting and will not get the error message.

ReplyDeleteI always leave things off to the side, it is part of my process. If it ain't on the cutting mat, why are they so concerned with it right now? This feature is an idiotic addition.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I have sooo much crap on the side. This is gonna bug me big time.
DeleteThank you! I have a Cameo 3 and I ordered a Cameo 4 and I would have gone crazy if this had happened to me because all my cutting documents have things on the side.
ReplyDeleteI am a graphic designer and I'm used to working with things off the page, on the board. I hope this gets fixed at some point in the software, especially since we only have one page/mat a time, as opposed to multiple page documents.
This means that a "happy birthday" banner whose letters don't all fit on the mat at once for cutting would have to be set and saved into 6 to 8 documents? Not good.
Thank you for the explanation of why it happens - others are correct though - it doesn't make any sense :). Is there any known issue with just proceeding without deleting portions that are not on the mat?
ReplyDeleteI do not have anything but what is on the mat and I am still getting this error message.
ReplyDeleteI get this message even though there is nothing outside the mat. Enough to drive a person to drink. lol
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed the fact that I could leave stuff off of the mat and it only cut and worried about what was in the mat. I hope this gets fixed because it causes more steps that are not necessary. Hope you fix it soon!!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed!
DeleteThank you for the hint. This is a super annoying bug, so I hope they fix it. For now, I'm just copying/pasting the off the cutting mat into a separate file, then paste it back in when I'm done cutting just to keep everything together.
ReplyDeleteI only have one object on the mat, and am getting this message. It is clearly inside the cut lines. Any other ideas?
ReplyDeleteTry starting a new design page! Copy and paste your design into the other window.
DeleteI am having the same issue. No other designs off the mat. I have found that the issue occurs when using the kraft blade. If I use the "cut" setting rather thank the "kraft cut" setting to get rid of the loops, then I get this error message (using a custom material and settings). However, if I turn the settings to "kraft cut" it works, however I then get the loops, which I do not want. I want to use the negative space, so these loops mark up the material I want to keep. It seems like it is trying to force the use of the "kraft cut" setting, therefore adding in those loops. Any help?
ReplyDeleteHi there! You may want to go back to a legacy version of the software. Probably 4.3.370. https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software
Deleteoh my gosh ! you are so wonderful !!! This was just making me crazy ! and while I wasnt able to delete and cut, I just moved everything to a "new design mat " and it worked perfect. I have NO idea why I didnt think of that to begin with . Anyway... thank you SOOO much !!
ReplyDeleteI have a brand new cameo 4 pro and a 3mm kraft blade..I have never had one of these machines before but cannot for the life of me get past this issue. Literally just trying to cut a square, I have nothing else on the mat, I have the second carriage selected where the kraft blade is...I've only been able to get it to cut when I load the autoblade in the first carriage but then it cuts with that instead :(
ReplyDeleteI am so beyond frustrated with this. I got the cameo 4 to cut felt with, and it does this to me every single time. There is nothing off the mat, I've copied and pasted into a new window. This is such an annoying bug and needs to be fixed asap
ReplyDeleteHi all. I, too, was having issues and unfortunately removing the text from the side didn't work so I found that selecting 'tool number 2' under 'line' instead of simple, helped it to finally cut. SO frustrating! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI have followed all this advice and still cannot get my Cameo 4 to recognise the rotary cutter in the Tool 2 slot. It’s definitely slotted in correctly, there’s nothing outside the cutting mat space, Tool 1 slot says ‘no tool detected but I’m still getting this error message. Help! 😩
ReplyDeleteI'm having this problem and there is nothing outside of the cutting area. It's making me crazy!
