Even with just three extra inches of cutting width, you get twice as much print and cut area. This Silhouette CAMEO Plus tutorial will show you how to take advantage of that and print and cut with a CAMEO Plus.
The 15" CAMEO Plus is a game changer for print and cut - especially for those who make stickers. The max print and cut area (blue) is twice as big as the printable and cuttable area of the Portrait or 12" CAMEO machines (red). This means you can take advantage of wide format sticker sheets from Online Labels including their 12x18" and 11x17" printable sheets.
Here's an example of what this increased print and cut area looks like when printing and cutting stickers on a Portrait or 12" CAMEO vs a 15" CAMEO Plus.
Silhouette CAMEO Plus Print and Cut Set Up
To set up printing and cutting on CAMEO Plus, open Silhouette Studio. From the Send panel select the CAMEO Plus machine that's powered and connected to Silhouette Studio.Move to the Design area and open the Page Setup Panel. Make sure the machine is selected as Auto (CAMEO Plus). Change the cutting mat to None. Change the Media Size to Custom and adjust the width and height manually. You can see mine are set to 12x18".
Be sure to check the boxes for Show Print Border and Show Cut Border.
Go the right most tab on the Page Setup Panel and turn on the registration marks (or press M on your keyboard). If you want or need the absolute maximum print space click "Advanced Options" and move the firsts three inset bars as far left as possible.
Add your designs to the work area staying within the safe print and cut areas and avoiding designs overlapping or touching the hashed areas near the registration marks.
If you are making sticker sheets you may want to put boxes around the sticker sets to cut them into sheets. Use the Draw a Rectangle tool to make the sticker sheet cut lines.
How to Print and Cut on 15" CAMEO Plus
Load the sticker paper into your wide format printer. I am using a Canon iP8720 printer which can print 13" x 19".From Silhouette Studio click File > Print or click the Printer tool icon along the top tool bar. Make sure your wide format printer is selected and then send the page to print.
Once the printing is complete you can move onto cutting.
Currently there is not a 15" wide cutting mat that's longer than 15" so you'll need to cut without a mat. This is fine for stickers since they are a lined material.
Move the right roller in so it's close enough that both rollers cover each edge of the paper.
In Silhouette Studio's Send panel turn off the cut line for the sheet edge rectangles - if you added them. Select the material and adjust the cut settings if needed then click Send to begin cutting.
The CAMEO Plus should look to find the registration marks before beginning the cutting process.
When the cutting is finished, if you are making sticker sheets and have the edge cut lines, return to the Send panel; otherwise unload the sheet.
To cut the sticker sheets turn off the cut lines for the stickers and turn on the cut lines for the rectangles. Change the material to some type of paper so you get the option to Pop Out Cut.
Click Send to send the cut.
That's it - you now have two sticker sheets that are the same size as if you print and cut a single sheet on a Portrait or 12" CAMEO.

Do you have tips for the plus not cutting properly? I hate this machine so much! I had a cameo 2 for years and I had a roof leak and bought a plus and nothing but problems with everything. I am not a newbie, I have looked up every tutorial I could find and not one helped.
ReplyDeleteHey there! We'd really need more information to help troubleshoot. The first thing I'd do is see if your firmware is up to date. If you keep having trouble, shoot us an email.
DeleteI also have a comeo 4 plus and have trouble to cut because I was not able to understand the instructions for calibrating the machine properly for print and cut. It becomes a guess on changing the lines in A and B and at the end I ended up cutting my the border of the mat
