I love this for Christmas ornaments, gift wrapping, and bows.
The biggest thing to consider when customizing ribbon with HTV is the width of the ribbon and the placement of the HTV on it.
A few ideas of what you can put on ribbon:
- Birthday or Holiday Sentiments (ie Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, Happy 5th Birthday)
- Year
- Occasions (Congratulations, Welcome Baby!!)
- Names (For: Olivia, Best Wishes)
Start by measuring the width of the ribbon.
In Silhouette Studio, use the Draw a Rectangle tool on the left toolbar to make a rectangle the same width as the ribbon. This will ensure the text actually fits on the ribbon itself.
Select your fonts.
I am using two fonts from So Fontsy's December Bundle which has 15 fonts and 122 designs for $19.99 for a limited time!
Two of the fonts are Flying High font which has a series of glyphs including the center connecting heart and Christmas Stars which has two versions - with and without stars in the characters.
Once you've typed out your text and sized it, be sure to mirror the text before cutting. Select the text > right click > flip horizontally.
I cut Siser Easyweed with the default cut settings of Heat Transfer Vinyl, Smooth but increase the force to 14.
Even at this small size, it cuts and weeds perfectly.
Heat the Easypress Mini up to the medium setting (two lines lit up). It only takes about a minute or two to come up to temperature. You'll know when the lights turn from orange to green.
Place the HTV onto the ribbon and use the Cricut Easypress Mini like an iron to apply the heat transfer. You don't need a lot of time or pressure.
Peel away the transfer sheet and you're all done!
Easy and fast way to customize ribbon!!
