How to Update Silhouette Studio Software to a New Version
If you want to update your Silhouette software to V4.3, you should first back up your Silhouette Studio library. Do this by opening your current software. If you have Silhouette Studio V4.2 open the software and go to the library by clicking the "Library" tab in the top right corner.Once the library is open, click on your name and then select "Library Export."
Browse to where you want to save the file on your computer and then click "Export."
This will begin the library backup process.
All of your User designs will be saved in an EXEC file in the location you selected. This file can't be previewed, but it can be used to re-import your library if your library doesn't automatically transfer or doesn't completely transfer during the software update.
With your library safely backed up go to the Silhouette America website and from the Software page find the version of the software you want to install. If you are installing the Beta version it will be listed under Beta. Select MAC or Windows and then follow the prompts to install it.
When you open the updated version of Silhouette Studio any software upgrades - Designer Edition, Designer Edition Plus and Business Edition - should come over automatically. The only new feature in Silhouette Studio V4.3 that requires an upgrade is the Line Pattern Styles which is only available with Designer Edition Plus or higher.

Can I export to a flash drive? I exported my library awhile ago...can I use the same flash drive? Will it know to only copy new unsaved files or will it duplicate all. Does this new release have bugs? Thank you Melissa!😊
ReplyDeleteSorry Melissa I see the new version has bugs.
DeleteI updated my software and when I open old images I designed, they are shown in faint/dotted lines instead of solid outlines--I am finding it very hard to work with any images...when I try to draw and outline, it is either faint/dotted or else comes up solid. Wish I could go back to the previous version! Is there a way to do that?
ReplyDeleteYes, you can go back to a previous version. Follow these steps https://www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2019/04/how-to-go-back-to-older-version-of.html
