There are so many different ways to use digital patterns, also called digital scrapbook paper or seamless patterns, for Silhouette project. Here are my seven of my favorite ways to use them!
Installing Custom Digital Patterns in Silhouette Studio
Silhouette Studio includes a set of default patterns, but you can also add your own custom digital patterns to the Silhouette Software. That means, with Designer Edition or higher, you can take advantage of things like the Digital Patterns Bundle from So Fontsy and add hundreds of custom patterns to your Pattern Fills to totally customize your Silhouette projects. You can even bulk import custom patterns into Silhouette Studio. Both the default patterns and custom digital patterns you add to Silhouette Studio are accessible through the Patterns tab of the Fill panel.
7 Ways to Use Digital Patterns in Silhouette Studio
Did you know you can turn all those adorable boxes and 3D paper designs into Silhouette print & cut designs with a patterned fill? Think about the possibilities!
Can't find a patterned adhesive vinyl that's perfect for your project? Print it! Not only can you skip the print and cut, but if you print borderless from Silhouette Studio you can get more out of your Oracal inkjet printable sheets!
3. Customize Silhouette Print and Cut Projects
Fill designs with custom fill patterns to create totally custom looks for different occasions like birthdays and holidays!
And keep in mind, you don't have the fill the entire design with the pattern! You can use it as a border too and get totally different looks!
4. Print Custom Scrapbook Paper
Use the draw a box tool in Silhouette Studio to draw a box the size of the entire printable area. Fill it with a pattern and then print out the sheet on cardstock to create your own scrapbook paper!
With Siser's new EasySubli HTV it's now easier than ever to print
high quality custom pattern heat transfer vinyl at home! And if you
don't have a sublimation printer, you can also use Starcraft printable HTV sheets for inkjet to do the same thing on an inkjet printer!
6. Create Custom Pattern Stickers without Print and Cut!
Avoid print and cut and get more out of your sticker sheets, but filling the page with one or more patterns..then cut! This video explain exactly how!
7. Get MORE Out of Your Designs!
Change just a key piece of your deign by filling it with a pattern and you'll change the look with totally re-designing the entire cut file.
This bandana Frenchie cut file is a great example...the original design had a super cut red polka dot bandana..
...but by filling the bandana with a new tie die pattern, I got a totally different look with just one or two clicks!
Totally convinced you need more patterns in your crafting life? So Fontsy's Digital Patterns Bundle is the motherlode ... with 250 patterns for just $12.99 for a VERY limited time. They're all personal and commercial use, too!
