Tammi's husband Tim made her a light box using some basic hardware supplies. He had them mostly around the garage - but you can buy everything on the supply list at the hardware store.
What's cool about the 16x16" light box is it's made specifically for weeding vinyl. You can lay the vinyl right on the top, flip on the light, and the cut lines are made extremely clear. No more accidentally putting the hook into the actual vinyl decal.
Check out how easy the lines are to see when the vinyl is illuminated with the back light.
BUT my favorite part of this lightbox design is that there's a cup holder that's also illuminated. (The holder is sized to accommodate up to a 32 oz tumbler.)
Have you ever tried to put a vinyl design on a cup, mug or tumbler while trying to hold it? Yeah it's impossible. I don't know about you, but I end up squeezing it between my legs or struggling with it while it tries to roll away on the table. This designs holds the cup in place - and still - so the vinyl can easily be applied! No more wrestling!
If any of you followed my old blog, Two It Yourself, - the one that has been neglected since Silhouette School took over my life - you know my background is in DIY. Soo....guess where I'm heading? To the hardware store and then to my garage to use these lightbox plans to build a new toy for my craft room!
If you're interested in the plans, you can get them here for just a small fee.
Note: I am receiving no compensation for sharing this awesome idea with all of you - I just thought it was way too cool not to share!
Thanks for coming to class today at Silhouette School. If you like what you see, I'd love for you to pin it!
