I think it's always important to start with the right type of material to get the best cut. For this job, the American Crafts Glitter Cardstock cut like butter! There were no little frayed or rough edges of the cardstock that sometimes happen when you cut papers. I purchased this piece as a single sheet at the craft store, but you can also get a glitter paper pad.
It's obviously also important to have the perfect Silhouette cut settings. The trick to cutting glitter cardstock with Silhouette is low and slow. That's a low blade and a slow speed. The best cut settings for glitter card stock are:
Blade depth: 6
Speed 3
Thickness 33
Double Cut
Now that's something to smile about!
But because all blades are worn differently - depending on what you cut previously - be sure you do a test cut before you go cutting your entire sheet of glitter cardstock! I'd hate for you to waste such a pretty sparkly material for simply skipping the test cut!
By the way, I know you're going to ask how I cut that glitter M to perfectly fit inside my Heidi Swapp Letter Marquee...the trick is to throw the template on the Silhouette PixScan mat > import into Silhouette Studio > trace and cut! Click here for a Pixscan tutorial for beginners.
Now if you're trying to cut cork - even thin cork or adhesive backed cork - with your Silhouette. Don't waste your material, time or blade. The Silhouette CAMEO can't handle it no matter the cut settings. The cork crumbles, the cut ends up a mess and you only risk significantly dulling your blade.
Unfortunately, the same goes for burlap - even paper backed burlap.

I tried cutting recollections glitter cardstock but I saw in other blogs blade 10, speed 2. It did not even leave a dent, and now my cameo is going crazy. It won't cardstock that was at a 3 blade unless it's at 6, which cuts through the mat. 5 makes a line here or there. I've tried different blades, but I feel trying to cut clotted cardstock ruined my cameo.

I'm having problems cutting the glitter card stock. The blade gets stock in certain points, the cameo starts doing weird sounds and then it continues but with the design completely out of phase. I hope you can help me.
